Services for Children
We want to make your child’s first visit to the dentist an enjoyable experience. We are able to help your child through appointments and cater to his or her unique needs.
Your Child’s First Appointment
We recommend that your child visits our dentist office for the first time at around the first sign of a tooth. They may not need to return until the age of 3.
We will likely recommend that your child have a professional check-up and cleaning every six months, just like adults. However, every patient is different and some patients may require more frequent check-ups or cleanings.
During their first appointment we will do everything we can to ensure your child has a positive experience at our practice. We are happy to welcome you along every step of their visit.
What are some common oral health issues in children?
TOOTH DECAY IN CHILDREN
We help control the development of dental decay, or cavities in your child’s teeth. They are susceptible to this as soon as they have teeth.
Controlling decay in babies and children is crucial to their overall health and is often our focus for our younger patients.
One of the most effective ways to prevent this is to clean teeth regularly with a clean, damp cloth. We also recommend using non-fluoridated toothpaste until your child can spit. As soon as the teeth come in the flossing should begin!
BABY BOTTLE TOOTH DECAY
Baby Bottle Tooth Decay refers to decay in infants and young children. This happens when sweet liquids and those with natural sugars (like milk, formula and fruit juice) cling to an infant’s teeth. Your dentist will monitor this to keep your child healthy.
